A Dose of Leprechaun

Despite having one crazy week, both at work and personally, I’ve been really wanting to get back to blogging. I’m so glad to finally have some daylight hours after work to be able to take photos. Going to work in the dark and getting home in the dark has definitely been draining my motivation lately.

I talked on Instagram a few weeks ago about how long days at work have kept me from doing even the things I want to be doing and typically fill me up in my free time. My solution has been to let go of the 101 things I think I should be doing and just list the top three things I want to be doing. This helps keep me before and after work hours feeling dreamy. Today, taking and posting outfit photos for the first time in what feels like forever made that short list.

But here we are! I loved the subtle green and gold in my St. Patty’s Day outfit. This LOFT skirt and emerald scarf have been staples for me this winter but felt a little extra special with the addition of a gold bangle from Rocksbox. Even six months into my post-grad job, I’m still trying to figure out my professional style. However, this outfit is definitely one that feels like me.

Craft the Launch

Craft-the-Launch

2016 will be the year I take my first step into entrepreneurship. It’s a big goal that has spent a lot of time in the back of my head, way too scary to voice.

I’ve been thinking about starting an Etsy shop for a while now, pretty much ever since I started making these gigantic infinity scarves. Once I graduated from college and found I had a bit more time on my hands, the urge to launch a handmade business got stronger. But here’s the thing — I don’t function well without tangible goals. While the idea of starting my own Etsy shop was nice, it was never going to happen unless I got serious and set some deadlines for myself.

Now, I could have written some things down in my planner and done my best to roll out a perfectly curated product line in a few months, but I decided I needed more accountability than that.

Enter Craft the Launch.

Over the course of this year, I will be planning, building and launching a shop of hand-sewn and knitted accessories for both the home and wardrobe. The catch is that I’ll be sharing everything leading up to the launch here on the blog — all the tiny victories and hiccups along the way.

The goal for this year is to experiment — learn the ropes of a handmade business, discover the ins and outs of selling both in the online and local handmade marketplace, and build an online brand. Right now, I have the bare bones of an Etsy shop just waiting to be filled. At the end of the year, I hope to have developed a cohesive line of products that I (and hopefully you!) adore.

I have to admit, I’m feeling a little vulnerable putting something out in the world that is at the moment only an idea, an intention, a plan. Ask anyone close to me and they will tell you that isn’t how I do things. In fact, I tend to wait until I’ve already been offered a job or accepted into a program before I even tell anyone I’ve applied. And yet, I know I need to change things up, step outside of my comfort zone and get nimble in order to make big things happen this year. I couldn’t be more excited to see what comes of 2016.

I can’t wait to show you what I have in store.
