It seems almost sacrilege to be posting an outfit featuring bare arms and legs when it was in the 20s this morning as I was walking to class, but I’m so thankful I have these leftover pictures Eric took for me because it is way too cold right now to take off my coat for pictures even for just ten minutes. I wore this outfit during my final week at my internship and I love it because it reminds me of something I would have worn in the earlier days of this blog. That’s probably because I’ve had each of these pieces for at least three years. I don’t think I’ve worn them all together before, but I could be wrong. This dress was indispensable this summer for wearing into the office. It’s comfortable enough for my two hour commute and is pretty effortless to wear so I never had to be concerned about whether my outfit was working when I was getting dressed at 5 a.m. in the dark. The ruffle detail and spotted pattern combined with the studded belt and drapey cardigan made me feel stylish but not like I was trying too hard or calling too much attention to myself. This outfit just hit the sweet spot for office dressing.
I am so excited for Thanksgiving this year! I just can’t wait to head home for almost an entire week of family, friends, and food! Of course, I’ve already started thinking about what I’m going to wear so I thought I’d share my picks for Thanksgiving inspired dresses, all under $50.
For a holiday centered around food and spending time with family, I would definitely lean towards a super comfy dress with simple accessories. This shift dress, drop-waist dress, and elastic-waist dress are all perfectly casual and won’t keep you from treating yourself to a second helping! However, if your Thanksgiving plans are a little more formal, I love the idea of one of these neutral dresses with some fun jewelry. Plaid just says fall all over and I think one of these plaid dresses would be so fitting for a cozy fall holiday.
I’ve had this dress for the longest time and while it hasn’t gotten much wear the last couple years, I’m determined to remedy that this fall. I love the navy and hunter green plaid layered under a slouchy gray knit top and paired with a brown leather belt and boots. This is pretty much the perfect outfit for fall and we had the best weather the other day so I was actually able to run around in this sans coat and scarf! As much as I love fall, I hate the weather getting colder so I’m glad we’ve had at least a couple of warmer days before the rain and cold temperatures set in for the next six months!
