A Dose of Fall Layers

A few weeks ago, I went up to Portland to spend some time with my family and Eric. It was so nice to get in a weekend at home before school got too busy. We went out for pizza at a favorite local place, visited a corn maze, and watched a scary movie. The corn maze actually ended up being a bit of a bust because, after we decided to veer right at the very beginning, we had already reached the end. We ended up reentering the maze in an attempt to actually get lost. I’m bummed I didn’t actually get the chance to take part in more festive activities this year. I would love to head to a pumpkin patch, eat an apple cider donut, and carve some jack-o-lanterns like Eric and I did last year, but it just wasn’t in the cards.

I absolutely love this cozy casual fall look. I pulled a bunch of plaid shirts and a plaid dress out of some bags of clothing that have been destined for Goodwill for a while now. I’m so glad I saved them! This cute plaid flannel is so perfect for fall and, honestly, I don’t know why I even thought about giving it up. I actually wore this shirt in one of my very first ever outfit posts four years ago! It’s amazing how much things have changed since then and yet here I am, restyling the very same top. It just goes to show that hoarding really can be a good thing.

A Dose of Eclecticism

This outfit is a perfect example of why, sometimes, long distance can be a positive thing in a relationship. I get to experiment with my clothing choices and Eric is spared from walking around with a girl dressed like an eclectic grandmother. It’s a good thing he loves me because this outfit would not be getting me dates anytime soon. In my defense, I really had no idea what to wear this morning. It was freezing cold outside so tights and lots of layers were a must. I’m a big believer in making clothes work year round, so I decided to start with this summery dress and add on layers until I was warm enough. I actually really love the boho, hippie-chic look I ended up with, even if it is a little man-repelling.
