A Dose of Summertime Sadness

I’m beginning to feel like I’m the only one who has bittersweet feelings about summer coming to an end. It seems everyone else can hardly wait for sweater weather and pumpkin everything, but I’m torn. On the one hand, I’m looking forward to new classes and getting back into my school routine, but on the other hand, I know that excitement about school will start to fade once the work starts piling up. I’m also not ready to be cold and wet all the time. I don’t want to give up bare legs and sandals and easy dresses just yet, but since it’s already mid-September, I guess it’s time to start thinking about transitioning from summer to fall. This dress is one that I think will make that transition well. I love the heart cutout and subtle high-low hem for summer, but I also think it’ll be cute with some warm tights and boots in the fall. The floral pattern is subdued enough that I think it could work year-round, which is something I always look for in clothing. Since I’m a college student, I can’t really afford a separate wardrobe for each season so I’m always mentally calculating during how many seasons and in how many different ways I can wear a certain piece.

How do you make the transition from summer to fall? And please tell me I’m not the only one feeling unsure about the seasons changing…
  • darling outfit! you could so take this dress into fall with tights, brown boots, and chunky sweater!

  • Such a cute outfit! I am super excited for fall but I can understand not being totally ready for the seasons to change. Sure, we get sweaters, tights, pumpkin spice everything, and all sorts of other awesome stuff in the fall, but we also get approximately no daylight, lots of rain and chilly nights. I think it helps to just focus on all the little things that get you excited about the season, though! I hope the transition from summer to fall goes well for you!

  • ahh, I totally hear you, Hannah. I feel the same!
Fall is so exciting and beautiful, but I definitely love the ease of summer. Not to mention that Fall basically equals rain ALL the time here on the West Coast. Cold. Wet. Rain.
I can also relate to looking for clothing that can transition from one season to the next 🙂
Here's to the last days of summer!

  • cute outfits!! love your cardigan so much..xo
