A Dose of Everyday Style

This has been my go-to outfit since the weather started warming up in the spring. This is definitely the most comfortable dress I own, especially in the heat. We’ve had an unseasonably warm summer this year and I’m trying to soak up every bit of sun I can get, which means I’m spending most of my time in simple sundresses to keep cool. This makes keeping a personal style blog a little difficult, but I find doing a little online window shopping can help me look at my clothes in a new light. I especially love browsing Ruche’s lookbooks for outfit inspiration. And, of course, Pinterest.

A Dose of Black and Gold

After working all day on Saturday, I got a little dressed up for what was supposed to be date night with Eric. Unfortunately, we realized that the highway we would have to take to get to downtown Portland was closed for repaving so our date night plans turned into pizza at home with a few episodes of The Big Bang Theory thrown in. I wasn’t about to let this cute outfit go to waste though so we still managed to take a few pictures. I’ve had this black lace high-low dress for years – long before high-low hems were even a trend. I’m pretty proud of myself for picking out something that not only is right on trend years later, but is also something I’ll be able to wear for years to come. The black lace looks so chic with a cropped utility jacket (also something I’ve had for years!) and gold accents.

Life Lately

This summer, I’m doing a marketing internship in Seattle three days a week which has required a ton of driving in between Portland and Seattle. I’ve got quite a commute, but part of it involves a ferry ride and I’m absolutely loving the thirty minutes to an hour a day that I get to just look out the window or read a book. I’ve already finished The Light Between Oceans and The Time Traveler’s Wife (on audiobook), both of which were so so good and I can’t recommend enough! I’ve really been enjoying the work I’m doing at my internship as well and it’s really helping me figure out my own career goals, which makes all the driving totally worth it. I’m really trying to make the most of the free time I have at home to spend with Eric and work on fun posts for this blog. I’m also learning how to make my own coffee! This is a pretty big deal for me because two years ago, I absolutely hated coffee. That’s what college does to you, I guess!
