A Dose of Denim and Sparkles

This post is just destined to be a bit of a disjointed ramble so I’m just going to go with it. First of all, I’m so happy to have my photographer back! Eric does such an awesome job whenever I ask him to take my outfit pictures and the last month or so of taking my own pictures has been a bit of a struggle. Second, I’m really glad I finally got around to wearing this DIY skirt I made forever ago. It used to be a thrifted XL blouse from Target, but a few snips and a new elastic waistband later and now I have a cute little skirt. It’s on the shorter side and super light weight so it’s great for these hot summer days we’ve had in Oregon all of a sudden.

Also, these shoes. I bought them to wear to my senior prom and ended up going with a different pair instead. These sparkly little ballet flats then sat in their bag on the floor of my room for two years while I moved off to college and completely forgot about them. Since it’s obviously too late to return them, I decided to pull them out to wear with this outfit instead of my go-to gray flats. Turns out, I really love the way these look, especially paired with a casual jean jacket and knit tee. I think I may have (re)discovered my new favorite pair of shoes!

On a completely unrelated note, I’ve been doing a lot of work on a new blog design and I’m almost ready to launch it! I’m super excited but it will probably mean that my blog will be under construction at some point this weekend. Hopefully everything will go smoothly though! I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about where I want to go with my blog in the future and I’ve decided to vary my content more and start blogging about a few more topics that I’m passionate about in addition to my outfit posts. I’ll also be changing the name of my blog to better reflect that. Thank you for following me this far in this blogging adventure and I hope you enjoy the changes to come!

Floral Dresses and Zombies

On Saturday, Eric and I drove out to Multnomah Falls to do some light hiking and take photos. Eric is really turning into quite the photographer and took some awesome pictures of the falls and of our hike. We had such a fun morning taking advantage of the one warm day we’ve had since I’ve been home for the summer. Afterwards, we cleaned up and went out to dinner at one of our favorite pizza places for a belated Father’s Day celebration with my family and grandparents.  I definitely relished in the chance to get a little dressed up. Give me a pretty floral dress, my favorite jacket, some cute sandals, a mint watch and I’m a happy girl! Eric looked pretty snazzy himself in his new birthday clothes (I should have snapped a picture!). After dinner, my brothers, my dad, Eric and I went to see World War Z. I’m a pretty big scaredy-cat in general and especially when it comes to zombies, so I will admit that I really only watched about half the movie. We saw it in the fanciest 3D form so I attribute that for a lot of my jumpiness. Unfortunately, Eric’s arm took quite the beating from my nails during all of the scary parts. All in all though, I really did enjoy the movie! I got Eric the book for his birthday, which my dad says is nothing like the movie, so I’m curious to see how he likes that. I might even have to borrow it from him when he’s done. Next up, Eric’s got me all set to watch all the seasons of The Walking Dead this summer – that boy loves his zombies! Now, who wants to paint nails and watch The Notebook with me? 😉

Closet Diary 6.4.13

These pictures were from a few weeks ago during dead week and, while I don’t remember much from this day other than I completely botched leading a group discussion, I obviously was sane enough to get dressed. I meant to post these pictures much sooner, but I went home for the weekend and left my camera, with the pictures still on it, at home when I returned to Eugene to finish up the term. The only plus side to posting these pictures two weeks late is that I was pleasantly surprised with what a good hair day I was having! I really love my short hair, but it’s just now growing out to the point where the way I’ve been styling it the past couple months isn’t working as well any longer. I’m trying to figure out the best way to style it for the length it’s at now, but if I could just figure out how to recreate this look, I’d be all set!

This outfit, on the other hand, is something I will for sure recreate again and again. An easy dress, denim jacket, and sandals are my go-to outfit for summer. It’s a fast, simple way to look put together, but stay super comfortable and it never gets old.
