I picked up these red jeans for about $5 at Nordstrom Rack over the summer. I figured that trying out the colored denim trend couldn’t hurt if I was only paying about the price of a Starbucks drink to do so. I’m definitely glad I didn’t break the bank for these pants because it’s taken me up until now to actually wear them. I’ve worn my minty green pants a couple times and my plum colored pair got lots of use while I was working at the Rack, but something about these bright red pants scared me off a little. I had to look through tons of photos on Pinterest, but eventually this outfit came together fairly effortlessly. I got a few awkward stares as I walked around campus in them, but fortunately for me, I waited long enough to wear them that I’m pretty sure seeing someone in crazy colored denim isn’t too unusual. In fact, I even saw someone in green pants and another girl in pink jeans today, so I didn’t feel alone with my brightly colored stems!
Also, can I just say that I love the fact that Eric has been taking my pictures lately? He snapped these for me before class this morning and I think he is just doing such a fantastic job! It is so much better than lugging my camera and tripod around only to end up with awful, blurry, unusable photos. Thank you, Eric, for being such a wonderful and willing photographer!
Happy Friday! This week has felt like it’s been dragging on and on but now it’s the weekend, the sun is out, and it actually feels like spring! Today was the grand opening of our new journalism school and so I was on campus all day attending lectures and checking out the festivities. I feel so blessed to be able to learn, work, and study in such an amazing building with so many resources available and with such a talented group of people around me.
Originally, this outfit was supposed to be the skirt and tee without any layers, but when I wore this at home a couple weekends ago, I threw on this cardigan just to stay warm around the house. I ended up liking the way it looked and when Eric and I took outfit pictures, I couldn’t bring myself to take it off. My mom, on the other hand, did not approve of this look. First, she told me to change my tights (I was originally wearing these) and then she asked if I had a pink cardigan or something that matched better. Since I was at home with limited clothing options, I didn’t really have anything else. I wore this outfit again today but with black tights and boots instead. The cardigan, however, stayed. Sorry, Mom!
While I was at home for my birthday weekend, I was on a mission to pick up this aztec cardigan from Forever21. I’ve been wanting an open-front drapey cardigan for the longest time (every time I go home, I steal my mom’s) and when I saw Tieka looking super cute in hers, I knew I had to have it. So armed with a little birthday money, I showed up at my local Forever21 a full hour before they opened (whoops!) to buy it. Luckily for me, there was a Target nearby and it just so happened to be the day the Prabal Garung for Target line came out in stores. Birthday shopping is the best!
I have worn this sweater so much in the last few weeks that the sleeves are getting stretched out. I can’t help it though. It’s cozy enough to wear without a coat and I love that it’s such a statement piece but it’s still so comfortable! I wore this outfit all day at home hanging out with Eric and my family and I never even felt the desire to change into more comfortable clothes (which is rare – I’m usually in yoga pants and a sweatshirt by the end of the day). This outfit is pretty much comfort at it’s finest. I also wore this dress and cardigan combo this week but I switched out the black tights for these sparkly gray ones with red hearts. I actually liked that look better, but unfortunately Eric wasn’t around to take my pictures.
