Closet Diary 3.11.13

I was inspired by this outfit from Kacie’s Kloset to style my navy horse print tank with a bright infinity scarf and neutral cardigan. At first I wasn’t sure about how the lace skirt looked with this outfit, but I ended up really liking it. I also received a super sweet compliment from a random classmate so I guess I must be doing something right! Unfortunately, since this week is dead week and finals week all rolled into one for me, this outfit only made it until about midmorning before I was back in sweats. Though luckily, today was more of a workday and less of a seeing-people-day. I can’t wait till this week is over and I can head home for spring break! As stressful as this week is going to be, it’ll definitely be worth it to have an extra week of break!

Closet Diary 3.7.13

This is just one of those outfits that looked much better in person than it does in pictures. I actually felt pretty cute while I was wearing it, but for some reason it didn’t photograph very well. In fact, I’ve worn this top a ton, but none of the outfit photos I’ve taken with it have turned out. What’s the deal?
Anyways, I’ve been nominated for a couple of Liebster Awards (thank you Jessica and Chelsie), which is an award that is given to new bloggers that have less than 200 followers and then is passed on to fellow bloggers in the same category. The rules are each blogger must post 11 things about themselves, answer the 11 questions the tagger asked, and then tag 11 other bloggers (I didn’t exactly follow all the rules, but oh well!). I figured I would roll it all together into one post, so scroll down to the bottom of this post to learn a lot of random things about me!

11 things about me:
My boyfriend and I officially started dating the Friday before we graduated from high school – so we just barely pass as high school sweethearts. My parents, on the other hand, started dating when my mom was a freshman in high school! Ever since I can remember, my favorite color has been pink, even though I’m pretty sure it’s one of the least flattering colors on me. I love, love, love to bake. I have double-jointed thumbs, which gross my family out, and crooked pinkies. Eric and I have decided that my left knee looks like a face (you can see it in the above picture – so weird!). I’m currently double-majoring in journalism and advertising, with a minor in business and, potentially, a minor in multimedia. During my first term of college, I had a major sleeping problem – I would get plenty of sleep at night, but I would constantly fall asleep in all of my classes no matter how much caffeine I drank before or during class! During high school, my dogs were named Gatsby and Daisy after the characters in The Great Gatsby (Gatsby passed away and now we have Della – named after the character from The Gift of the Magi). Over the summer, Eric and I were inspired by a visit to the Oregon Coast Aquarium to buy pet fish (unfortunately, my tank broke and Eric had to adopt my fish).

(I skipped a few because there’s just too many!)
What season do you like to dress for the most?
I’m always the most excited about clothes and blogging in the fall – call it back-to-school syndrome – but I also love spring as the weather starts warming up!
Coffee or tea?
Definitely tea, although my boyfriend got me accustomed to the taste of coffee, so I drink that sometimes too.
Fashion trend that you hate?
When colored denim first started out as a trend, I absolutely hated it (due to poor associations with it from high school), but obviously now I’m a convert. I can’t think of any current trends that I really hate right now.
What is one thing that you cannot live without?
Lip balm. I usually have really dry lips and it drives me nuts if I don’t have lip balm with me!
What is your biggest phobia?
Definitely public speaking. I’m also extremely afraid of falling, which can make things tricky when Eric and I go rock climbing!
Favorite indulgence?
Chocolate, of course!
What did you want to be when you were little?
At my preschool graduation, I declared that I wanted to be a princess when I grew up. After I got a little older and wiser, I decided I would be a writer.
What would you describe your personal style as?
Girly and casual.
What is the meaning behind your blog name?
My first name is Hannah, my middle name is Marie, and my mom occasionally calls me Miss Hannah Marie. I thought it worked for my blog name because it didn’t hold me to one specific topic and could grow with me.
If you ever had to move out of the country, where would you go?
I’d go to England because then I would be able to travel around Europe, but wouldn’t have to worry about speaking another language on a daily basis. Although, if we’re talking long-term, I’d probably just go to Canada so that I could still be close to family.
How did you get started blogging?
You can read about it on my About Me page, but basically I got sick of wearing jeans and sweatshirts in high school and had been obsessing over fashion blogs for a while, so I decided to start my own as encouragement to dress up on a regular basis.
Do you prefer vanilla or chocolate ice cream?
Vanilla, because you can eat it with cookies, brownies, or lots of different toppings.
What is the meaning of life?
Be interesting and interested.

1. If you could take a vacation anywhere, where would you go and who would you take with you?

Closet Diary 3.6.13

Obviously, this cardigan is quickly becoming a closet staple since I’ve worn it in three out of my last four posts. This outfit is definitely my latest go-to as well. It’s just so easy to throw on when I want to look cute and put together but without putting in much effort. I’ve actually lost count of how many times I’ve worn this outfit since I bought this sweater, but I’d probably be too embarrassed to tell you anyway. I promise outfit posts in the near future will contain something other than this sweater!

Although next week is (for me, at least) finals week, I’m happy to report that I’m not feeling too stressed out. There are certainly a few things that I’d just rather not think about, but I’m actually excited about a couple of my final projects! More than anything, I’m looking forward to spring break and a (hopefully) fun spring term filled with lots of sunshine!
