Closet Diary 11.27.12

I wore this outfit during dead week, but that feels so long ago with how busy I’ve been finishing up school for the term and coming home, that I can’t even remember what was going on that day. My best guess is that I was probably very stressed out. However, I do remember that I really loved this outfit. I even wore a similar version of it today. I’ve said before that I feel like I struggle with layering and that whenever I get a lot going on in an outfit, it just feels contrived. However, this is the kind of layering I like. This feels cozy and almost effortless. I think this jacket + cardigan + dress recipe is one I’ll be repeating again and again.

My boyfriend had family from out of town visiting over the weekend so we went with them to see ZooLights and spent some time just hanging out with everybody. It was so fun and I am so happy to be home for the holidays! I’m looking forward to doing lots more Christmas-y things and spending lots of time with family and friends.

2012 Holiday Wishlist: Part 2

I love my little apartment at school, but our living room area is pretty bare. We have furniture and a lamp, but I’d love to get a few little things to make it more homey. So for Christmas, I’d love to get giftcards to Target, Ikea, and Michael’s so I can buy and DIY a few things for our apartment.

On my last day at home for Thanksgiving, I went to church with my family, saw the new Twilight movie with my mom (it’s our Thanksgiving tradition), and spent time at home with my family and Eric. Being home was such a nice break from school, especially since now that I’m back, I’m dealing with final projects, papers, and tests.

Since I packed pretty light to go home, I was actually out of clothes to wear by Sunday. So I pulled this dress out of the summer clothes still in my closet at home and tried to make it a little more appropriate for fall with some tights and a cardigan. I kind of like the end result and never would have never would have tried this otherwise.

Sidenote: Eric took these pictures for me with his new DSLR and I love them!
