Happy Anniversary!

I seriously cannot believe that I’ve had this blog for a year now! When I started, a personal style blog seemed like such a silly idea, considering I was your typical denim and sweatshirt wearing teenager. However, having a blog has done exactly what I hoped it would and encouraged me to have fun getting dressed every day and to step outside my comfort zone. I have learned how to dress for myself so that I feel beautiful and confident. My goal for the next year 0f blogging is to take pictures on a regular basis (no more month long breaks for me!) and to continue to develop my own unique style through experimentation. That said, I’ve taken a look back through the year and decided to share with you a few of my favorite looks from each season:

Winter: Up to Date, XOXO, Fantastic Four
Spring: Easter Tradition, Secretary With a Twist, A Change Would Do Me Good
Summer: Safari Chic, Little House On the Prairie, School Girl Style
Fall: For the Red, White, and Blue, Up In Arms, Numero Uno

13 Going On 30

I will totally admit that I have been waiting this whole time just to use that title for my post. It is wonderfully cheesy and appropriate for the 30 for 30 challenge!

Now that I have that off my chest, let’s talk about clothes. I was really excited to remix my lace skirt (since it’s been all I can do not to wear it every single day!) with my striped shirt and red necklace as a pop of color. However, it turns out that my skirt is cream and the stripes on my tee are white. Is that a problem? I’m not really sure what the rules are when it comes to cream and white, but it looked a little off to me so I threw on my gray cardigan just to make the contrast a little less obvious. What do you think?

  • Gray cardigan: F21
  • Striped tee: AE
  • Lace skirt: Target
  • Tights: Hue
  • Flats: Payless
  • Belt: Nordstrom’s Rack
  • Necklace: my design

Twelfth Night

What can I say? It’s cold here. Really cold. And it’s snowing. In November. I have a feeling this could be a long winter. It’s also a little frustrating how much everything shuts down even with just a slight dusting of snow on the ground. I mean, school days are being canceled because of it! Oh well, I bundled up in my scarf, boots, and coat (not pictured) to run some errands and to meet a friend for coffee. I’m enjoying my Thanksgiving break so far and I think it will be fairly productive too!

I really liked the colors in this outfit. I just think the olive green of my jacket and the cranberry red of my scarf pair so nicely together – fresh, but very season appropriate. This is also the first time I’ve worn this lace tee for a blog post. I got it while back-to-school shopping and I love it! However, it’s taking a bit of a backseat in this outfit. I think it deserves to be the focal point of an outfit sometime soon!

  • Jacket: Decree by JCPenney
  • Scarf: F21
  • Lace tee: Macy’s
  • Skinny jeans: Express
  • Boots: Ugg Australia
  • Watch: Nordstrom
