“Playful Gamine”

This outfit was actually from yesterday, but my computer has been acting weird and I couldn’t get it posted. I’m actually going to be crazy busy the next few days – going from work to lacrosse or cross country practice so I guess I’m going to have to do some sort of wrap-up post of the outfits left in my challenge that haven’t gotten to wear yet!
Well, I only have a few days left in my Lucky style challenge and I finally got around to making this skirt. I had been planning on sewing it as part of my Senior Seminar Experience project – that is, until the program was canceled due to budget cuts – and also wanted to incorporate it into some of my outfits for the Lucky challenge, but had trouble finding to time to do it. I finally sat down today to sew and it only took me about an hour and a half to make. It was super easy and I love it! I couldn’t wait to style it up! I thought this outfit was the perfect combination of sweet and fun to debut my skirt. I like the mix of colors and patterns with the eyelet wedges and, of course, the cute little bow on my skirt! I think I might like bows and stripes together as much as I like stripes and florals!

“Grown-Up Schoolgirl”

Only three more days left in my Lucky style challenge! This outfit is very preppy and definitely schoolgirlish, but the green belt and multicolored bracelet add that necessary pop of color to make it fresh. I like it and feel like I should be shipped off to boarding school!

  • Navy cardigan: AE
  • White blouse: Aeropostale
  • Skirt: Repurposed men’s shirt
  • Belt: Target
  • Floral bracelet: F21
  • Gold bangle: Target

“Weekend Posh”

Even though this outfit is almost the exact same combination as what I wore the other day – same shorts, denim vest, and sandals; different blouse and the addition of a scarf – I think it has a completely different vibe. While the other outfit looked a little polished cowboy, this one has a certain vintage Great Depression era feel to it. I love the vintage look (especially those from Louis Vuitton Fall 2010, Marc Jacobs Spring 2009, and Mad Men), but have yet to feel confident and comfortable in anything with a strong retro vibe, so this look really kind of happened on accident. I was running short on time so I had to style my fresh-from-the-shower hair up and fortunately, due to my Lucky challenge, had a pretty good idea of what I wanted to wear, but I actually like the end result and may be inspired to try looks with a stronger vintage vibe.
