April 2010 archive

I really liked what I wore today – not only because the pieces magically came together and made me feel a bit like a dancer, but because I think it epitomizes my wardrobe goals. When shopping, I look for pieces that I can wear as many ways as possible and during as many seasons as possible. This is my attempt at a semi-reasonable budget. For example, I wear this striped cardigan all the time (which is somehow poorly represented by this blog as this is its first appearance). Also, although this skirt is new and this is the first time I’ve worn it, I plan to incorporate it into my wardrobe all summer. On the flipside, today’s version is something I could easily wear during colder months.
As a side note, I absolutely love all the lilacs blooming in our garden right now!

Grown Up Coloring Book

My lacrosse team had to dress up on one of our game days, which posed somewhat of a problem for me considering that I “dress up” almost everyday. To “dress up” a typical outfit, I wore heels and grounded my outfit with more formal black. My favorite part of this outfit by far was the white draped top. I love the pattern because it reminds me of an unfinished coloring book. In my opinion, a coloring book transposed onto clothing is the best kind there is!

One Dress Two Ways

I absolutely love this vintage dress that belongs to my friend. When I saw her wear it, I promptly informed her that I was going to steal it. However, I didn’t have to since she’s letting me borrow it. Unfortunately, she’s shorter than I am so my original outfit didn’t work out. I ended up wearing it as a top with skinny jeans and really liked it. Because I love this dress so much, I knew I had to get a couple of wears out of it while it was still in my possession so I also wore this out to dinner with my family. This time, I pinned it up in the back so it would be shorter and drape differently and wore it with a bright green tank and my gray boyfriend cardigan. I added a silver locket to make it a little bit sweeter. I wish I didn’t have to give it back, but I don’t think my friend would appreciate me holding her dress hostage. Falling in love with a dress that doesn’t belong to me is kind of a bummer!
