Subtlety is Key

This outfit was very comfy and cozy for just a typical school day, but I wanted to throw in a little visual interest with some subtle mixed patterns. I love the front of this fringed black vest (underneath my gray cardi). However, the sleeveless shape can be a little awkward (not to mention cold, since my plaid dress is sleeveless too!) so a some layering was needed to add warmth and to tie the outfit together. I almost wore plain black tights with this I remebered these textured tights that happen to have a very similar pattern as the black vest. All in all, I was very pleased with how these pieces worked together.

Forget Me Not

I am attempting to get caught up on all the outfit pics I’ve taken in the last few weeks, but failed to post (I wore this on February 3rd)! Anyways, I really like the tiny flower print on this dress, but its always been a little bit of an awkward length for me. To solve this problem, I layered it over a slightly longer dress in the same color. This actually worked out better than I had expected, as the longer dress echoed the trim on the sleeves and neckline of my floral dress – such a happy coincidence!

Treasure Box

I don’t wear a lot of accessories, especially when it comes to jewelry. This is mostly due to being both rushed and lazy when I’m getting dressed in the morning. Either I forget to put jewelry on or I don’t know what to wear. However, when I feel an outfit needs a little something to complete it and add some visual interest, I often reach for this vintage gold bangle. It’s bold enough that I don’t need anything else and is the perfect dose of metal to contrast with layers of soft fabric. Amazingly enough, I found this bangle in my dress-up box from when I was little! Now if only that chunky, multi-colored 80s necklace would reappear…
